Xtream Codes-compatible players
Players built around the Xtream Codes API: you enter a server address, username and password rather than a playlist link, and the app pulls live TV, VOD and EPG from that account directly.
Good for: Accounts delivered as a server/username/password login rather than a single playlist file. Usually has the smoothest EPG and VOD browsing.
Setup: Open the app, choose "Xtream Codes" or "Xtream API" login, and enter the server URL, username and password exactly as provided.
M3U / M3U8 playlist players
Players that load a single M3U or M3U8 playlist URL, listing every channel and stream in one file. Simpler to set up than Xtream, with less structured EPG support in some apps.
Good for: Accounts delivered as a single playlist link. Also the most universal option, since almost every platform has at least one app that opens M3U files.
Setup: Open the app, choose "Add playlist" or "Add M3U URL", and paste the playlist link provided.
EPG-focused players
Players designed around a TV-guide-style grid layout, showing what's on now and next across every channel. Usually support both M3U and Xtream sources, but need a working EPG/XMLTV source to be useful.
Good for: Viewers who browse by channel guide rather than a channel list, and want catch-up or "what's on next" information visible at a glance.
Setup: Add your playlist or Xtream account as usual, then add the EPG/XMLTV URL separately in the app's EPG settings if it isn't pulled in automatically.
General media players (e.g. VLC)
Not IPTV-specific, but any media player that can open a network stream can play an M3U playlist. No EPG, no channel list UI, just raw playback.
Good for: Quickly testing whether a playlist URL actually works, or watching on a desktop without installing a dedicated IPTV app.
Setup: Open the network stream option in the player and paste the playlist URL directly.

App store listings, availability and even whether an app is allowed on a given store change regularly, and we're not going to copy app descriptions or ratings from a store. Understanding which category of player your device needs is what actually stays useful over time.
How do I know which category my provider expects?
Check what your provider gave you: a single playlist link means you need an M3U player, a server address with a username and password means you need an Xtream Codes-compatible player. Most players handle both.
Can I use more than one player app?
Yes, there's no limit to how many player apps you install, and trying a different category can help isolate whether a problem is your playlist or a specific app.
