Buffering or freezing

Buffering usually comes from one of four places: your internet connection, your Wi-Fi signal, the streaming server, or your device's processing power.

  1. 1.Run a real speed and latency test to rule your own connection in or out.
  2. 2.Connect your streaming device by Ethernet cable if possible, Wi-Fi congestion is one of the most common causes.
  3. 3.Close other apps and devices using the same connection while you test, especially other streams and large downloads.
  4. 4.Try a lower quality stream if your app offers one, since 4K and Full HD need considerably more stable bandwidth than SD or HD.
  5. 5.If only certain channels buffer and others play fine, the issue is more likely that specific channel's source than your connection.
  6. 6.Restart your router and streaming device, a stale DNS cache or router memory leak causes more buffering than people expect.
Channels not loading

If channels don't load at all rather than buffering, it's usually a playlist, account status or app configuration issue rather than a speed problem.

  1. 1.Confirm your subscription hasn't expired, an expired account often looks identical to a technical fault.
  2. 2.Re-check that your M3U URL or Xtream Codes details were entered exactly, with no extra spaces or missing characters.
  3. 3.Try removing and re-adding the playlist or account in the app, corrupted local app data is a common cause.
  4. 4.Test the same playlist URL in a general player like VLC to see whether the problem is the app or the playlist itself.
  5. 5.Check whether the app needs updating, older app versions sometimes stop working with current playlist formats.
Login not working

A login failure is almost always either a credentials issue or an account/connection restriction, rather than a bug in the app itself.

  1. 1.Double-check the username and password for accidental spaces, autocorrect changes, or mixed-up characters like 0 and O.
  2. 2.Confirm your account is active and hasn't hit its connection limit, most accounts only allow one device connected at a time.
  3. 3.If you recently changed Wi-Fi networks or are using a VPN, some services restrict logins by IP or region, try without the VPN.
  4. 4.Check the exact server address for typos, including http versus https and any port number.
M3U playlist not working

M3U problems are usually the file format, the URL itself, or an expired link, rather than the app you're using.

  1. 1.Paste the raw playlist text into a validator to check for a missing #EXTM3U header, malformed lines or broken URLs.
  2. 2.Confirm the URL loads at all by pasting it directly into a browser or VLC's network stream option.
  3. 3.Check whether the link has an expiry parameter, some M3U links are only valid for a limited time and need refreshing.
  4. 4.Make sure the app you're using actually expects an M3U URL rather than an Xtream Codes login, some apps only support one format.
Xtream Codes not working

Xtream Codes logins depend on three separate values matching exactly: the server URL, username and password.

  1. 1.Generate the player API URL from your details and open it directly in a browser, a valid account returns readable account data rather than an error.
  2. 2.Check the server address includes the correct port if one was provided, a missing port is one of the most common Xtream setup mistakes.
  3. 3.Confirm http versus https matches what was provided, some Xtream panels only work over one or the other.
  4. 4.Check your account hasn't hit its simultaneous connection limit if it previously worked and suddenly stopped.
EPG or TV guide missing or wrong

A missing EPG is usually a separate data source from your channel list, so it can fail even when channels play fine. Wrong times are almost always a time zone mismatch.

  1. 1.Check whether your app needs a separate XMLTV or EPG URL added manually, it isn't always pulled in automatically with Xtream accounts.
  2. 2.If the guide shows but times are wrong, convert between your provider's server time zone and your own to confirm the offset.
  3. 3.Confirm your device's own date, time and time zone settings are correct, an incorrect device clock affects the whole guide.
  4. 4.Some apps cache EPG data for hours, force-refresh the guide or restart the app after making a change.
Audio problem

Audio issues on IPTV are most often an audio track/codec mismatch between the stream and your TV or receiver, rather than the app itself.

  1. 1.Check whether the channel has multiple audio tracks and try switching, some streams default to a track other than the main one.
  2. 2.If audio is out of sync rather than missing, this is usually a device decoding delay rather than a stream problem, try a different player app.
  3. 3.For no audio through an AV receiver or soundbar, check whether the stream uses a surround format your equipment doesn't decode, and try switching your device's audio output to stereo.
  4. 4.Restarting the stream (leave and rejoin the channel) resolves a surprising number of one-off audio glitches.
Picture quality problem

Poor picture quality can come from the source stream's actual bitrate, your connection struggling to keep up, or your device downscaling to cope.

  1. 1.Check whether the channel offers multiple quality options and whether you're on the intended one, some providers offer both SD and HD versions of the same channel.
  2. 2.Run a speed test, a connection that's technically "fast enough" on paper can still struggle with sustained 4K bitrates.
  3. 3.Confirm your device actually supports the resolution you expect, some older streaming boxes cap out below Full HD regardless of the source.
  4. 4.Compare the same channel on a different device if you can, this quickly tells you whether it's the stream or your setup.
App crashing

Crashes are usually a device resource problem or a corrupted app cache, rather than anything to do with your playlist or account.

  1. 1.Clear the app's cache and data (or fully uninstall and reinstall it), corrupted local storage is the most common cause of repeat crashes.
  2. 2.Update the app if an update is available, and check your device's OS is reasonably current too.
  3. 3.Close other running apps first, especially on lower-powered Firestick and Android TV box models with limited memory.
  4. 4.If the app only crashes when loading the EPG or a very large playlist, the device may be running out of memory processing it.
Connection problem

A stream that won't connect at all, rather than buffering once started, is more likely a network or firewall issue than a playlist problem.

  1. 1.Check that your router or firewall isn't blocking the ports or protocols the stream needs, especially on stricter business or campus networks.
  2. 2.Try a different network if you can (mobile hotspot, for example) to confirm whether the issue is specific to your usual connection.
  3. 3.If you use a VPN, some streaming servers block or restrict VPN traffic, try without it.
  4. 4.Restart your router, a surprising number of "can't connect" issues clear after a full router restart rather than just the streaming device.

Troubleshooting Wizard FAQ

Do I have to contact support if these steps don't fix it?

Not necessarily, but if you've been through the relevant steps and it's still not working, our support chat can look at your specific account and setup, which this general guide can't do.

Why does my symptom have more than one possible cause?

Most IPTV symptoms genuinely can come from more than one place, buffering alone can be your connection, your Wi-Fi, the provider's server, or your device. The steps are ordered roughly from most to least common cause.

Is this specific to Televo IPTV?

No, these are general IPTV troubleshooting steps that apply to M3U and Xtream Codes-based services broadly, not just ours.
